We wholeheartedly believe it important to buy local to sustain the economic vitality of our community and support our area businesses. This is essential.
If you do plan to make purchases on Amazon, whether on Prime Day (Oct 13-14), for the holidays, or any other time of year, please consider designating the Tuckahoe PTA as the AmazonSmile beneficiary of your purchases.
The Tuckahoe PTA Community Service Committee has identified an upcoming opportunity to perform community service for those who are interested: The 9th Annual Bronx River Cleanup with the Riverkeeper organization.
The Tuckahoe PTA’s 2020 Spring Social was postponed from its original date of March 27th, 2020, due to the COVID-19 shutdown. At that time, the PTA optimistically rescheduled the event for October, but this has now been canceled altogether. We’re disappointed that the efforts that went into planning the occasion did not come to fruition and regret the missed opportunity to celebrate our community with families and district staff.
The PTA has long served the Tuckahoe community with a variety of enrichment programs for families with children in grades K-12. Now, more than ever, we are committed to supporting Tuckahoe families throughout the coming school year. Your PTA membership dues help support our programs, especially in this time of depleted funds. We welcome your input as to how you feel the PTA can best serve the district in the COVID-19 era.
As we begin the 2020-21 school year, we find ourselves filled with trepidation at the uncertainties that lie ahead. The COVID-19 pandemic has infiltrated every facet of our lives, and the school setting is not easily navigable with respect to balancing academics, social-emotional well-being, and safety. Even under ordinary circumstances, the start of a new school year is often filled with tension and anxiety.
The Animation Lab, a stop-action animation workshop, was taught virtually to the 5th Graders in their Applications of Art to the Real World, STEAM Art class, by visiting artist, Anne O’Connor. Students completed projects demonstrating object animation, drawing animation, “cooking” animation, and cel animation, using CloudStopMotion and WeVideo platforms. The Tuckahoe PTA funded the program for the children. Please take a look at the students’ amazing work!
