“Understanding Tourette Syndrome and Its Effects on Learning”

This presentation offers essential information on Tourette Syndrome and related conditions for parents, educators and school-based clinical staff.
The program will cover recognition and management of symptoms of Tourette, including co-occurring conditions such as ADHD, OCD, and Learning Disabilities, as well as an overview of accommodations and specific classroom strategies that may promote the best possible educational environment for students with Tourette, their classmates and teachers.
As a special feature of this presentation, a teenage Tourette Youth Ambassador will be available to share his first-hand knowledge and experience with managing Tourette in the school setting.
Helene Walisever, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and member of the Tourette Association of America Education Advisory Board, as well as co-chair of the NY Hudson Valley Chapter of the Tourette Association of America. She and several of her children have Tourette and other learning differences.
